Program Structure
Is the MS in Climate, Environment & Health STEM-designated?
Yes. The MS in Climate, Environment & Health is STEM-designated, providing students with strong training in environmental health science, data analysis, and applied problem-solving. This designation also supports international students seeking extended work opportunities in the U.S. after graduation.
When does the program start?
The program begins each August and follows a cohort model, meaning students progress through the curriculum together.
Where are classes held? Are any courses online?
Courses are held in person at Georgetown University’s Capitol Campus in Washington, DC. Most classes are delivered in a fully in-person format, with select experiential components such as fieldwork and the capstone providing applied, real-world learning opportunities.
Admissions
Can I start the program in the spring or January?
No. The MS in Climate, Environment & Health offers fall admission only, with one start per year in August.
Are interviews required for admission?
No. The admissions process does not require interviews. Applications are reviewed holistically based on academic background, experience, and alignment with the field of health and environment.
What are the required application materials?
Applicants should submit transcripts, a resume or CV, a personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Optional test scores may be included if they strengthen the application.

Are GRE scores required?
No. GRE scores are optional. Applications are evaluated holistically, and submitting scores is not required to be a competitive applicant.
Are TOEFL or IELTS scores required for international students?
Yes. International applicants are required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores unless they qualify for a waiver.
How do I submit my official transcripts and degree certificate?
Unofficial copies of all academic coursework should be uploaded directly into your online application. If admitted, you will receive a conditional offer that requires submission of official documents to the Admissions Office. All academic materials must be submitted in sealed envelopes signed by the appropriate university official.
Can I transfer credits into the program?
No. Because the program follows a cohort-based structure, transfer credits are not accepted.
Tuition and Funding
What scholarships are available?
The program offers a limited number of merit-based scholarships. All applicants are automatically considered, and awards are communicated at the time of admission. Applying early can improve consideration.
Are international students eligible for financial aid?
International students are not eligible for U.S. federal financial aid but may be considered for program-based scholarships.
Can I use military or VA benefits?
The program is in the process of obtaining approval for VA education benefits. Applicants are encouraged to check for the most current status.
What is the application fee?
The application fee is $90 and is non-refundable.
